Blackstone Golf Course Named Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, Joins GreenGolfCommunities.net
The Jim Engh-designed
golf course at Blackstone Country Club has been designated a
Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary, the 10th in Arizona
and the 778th in the world, by Audubon International.
A 570-acre private,
gated community located within the Vistancia master plan in
Peoria, the award adds even more weight to the community's
green efforts, catapulting it to the Vanguard level--the top
designation--on the GolfCourseHome Network's
GreenGolfCommunities website.
Earning the
certification means the club has demonstrated a strong
commitment to its environmental program and maintains a high
degree of environmental quality in the areas of
environmental planning, wildlife and habitat management,
outreach and education, chemical use reduction and safety,
water quality management, water conservation and
environmental planning.
“The Blackstone
agronomy team is to be commended for its efforts to provide
a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property,” said
Jim Sluiter, staff ecologist for the Audubon Cooperative
Sanctuary Program.
The championship
course is home to mule deer, ducks, badgers, bobcats,
prairie dogs, chipmunks, many types of birds and the wild
donkeys that have roamed the area for generations.
Course
Superintendent Roger Brashear led the 25-member team in the
year-long process that took more than 300 hours to complete.
“I’m proud of the
team’s efforts,” he explained. “Their daily record-keeping
allowed me to provide Audubon International with information
in a concise and timely manner. It made things run very
smoothly.”
Brashear, who is
being recognized for his environmental stewardship by the
organization, regards the certification as an affirmation of
the club’s existing course maintenance practices.
“The environmental
management practices we follow here are respectful of the
land, wildlife, water and air,” he said. “But they also help
us to improve our efficiency in maintaining the course and
will ultimately help us achieve sustainability.”

The Top Five Trends Driving Today’s
Master-Planned Community Designs
Town planner says American Dream and the classic
neighborhood live again
Newtown, CT, April 2, 2009 – The growth
of green consciousness and the demand for more open space is
just one of five key trends emerging from the drawing boards
of today’s master-planned community designers, says Michael
Gene Peters, a town planner at Wood & Partners Inc.
Peters names these five important design
trends and describes how they are affecting what buyers are
seeing in today’s new communities in an article he wrote for
the
GolfCourseHome.net blog.
The top 5 trends, he says, focus on: 1.
Pedestrian orientation, 2. Environmental conscience, 3.
Recreational programming, 4. Integrated mixed uses and 5.
Multi-modal transportation.
These ideas are not new, he notes. In
fact, the five top trends in today’s master-planned
communities are concepts that were actually created more
than 50 years ago. These trends, born out of the post World
War II era, are now mainstream once again due to current
environmental and socioeconomic issues.
The image of classic neighborhood living
that guided the American Dream is still very much alive
today.
You can see the entire article on the
GolfCourseHome.net blog. along with examples of
well-designed communities such as
Daniel Island, SC.

Balsam Mountain Preserve Awarded
GreenGolfCommunity.net Status
by GolfCourseHome® Network
North Carolina Community awarded the
highest level--Vanguard
June 1 2009, Newtown, CT--GolfCourseHome.net
and the Golf Course Home® Network announce that
Balsam Mountain Preserve, a 4,400-acre golf and preservation
community located just west of Asheville, NC, has been named
a Green Golf Community and has earned Vanguard designation,
the highest level awarded.
Balsam Mountain Preserve joins more than
50 master-planned golf and waterview communities in 16
states that have demonstrated leadership in pursuing and
promoting environmentally friendly policies and
construction.
Qualifying communities are
assigned to one of four categories—Vanguard, Steward,
Sustaining and
Participant—depending on
the extent of their green programs and achievements. These
designations are fluid in that a community can move up (or
down) based on new programs added in the future.
Each community can stand out in up to18
different areas, ranging from Significant Green Space, Staff
Naturalist, Nature Center, Education & Research and Habitat
Restoration to Green Construction (LEED, etc.), Conservation
Foundation, Research Partnership, Volunteer Programs,
Archeological Preserve and participation in Audubon
International’s Sanctuary program.
“Balsam Mountain Preserve is especially
qualified for being awarded Vanguard status since 70 percent
of the community has been placed in a permanent conservation
easement, ensuring it will never be developed,” notes David
Lott, Golf Course Home® Network Founder and Publisher. “And
the non-profit Balsam Mountain Trust, which operates the
on-site Nature Center, serves as a wonderful educational
resource for young and old.”

WaterViewHome.net Breaks
10,000-Visitor Mark
Article by CBSMarketWatch.com kicks off new advance in growth
NEWTOWN, CT, August 19, 2003 – Visitor traffic at http://www.WaterViewHome.net, the web site for master-planned, waterfront communities,
broke through the 10,000-visitor level for the first time in July. The new high-water mark represented a 31 percent leap in traffic from April, according to David Lott, the site’s publisher and editor.
The record total also pushed the site past the 100,000-hit per month level for the second time in three months, Lott said.
The recent rush of new traffic was kicked off in May by a real estate story published on CBSMarketWatch.com, a financial services web site. The article cited WaterViewHome.net as a resource and included its Internet address. Traffic from the article’s link continued into June and July.
“The media exposure was right where we want it--online,” said Lott. “The story’s hotlink
enabled curious readers to jump directly to http://www.WaterViewHome.net and our in-depth community information has enabled us to build on the exposure ever since.”
The gains for the web site follows on the heels of a recent 6-month growth spurt in which WaterViewHome.net added 10 new communities to its featured real estate line-up, now totaling 45, and traffic numbers doubled over the previous 6-months’ total.
http://WaterViewHome.net is part of the GolfCourseHome®Network of web sites, which features http://www.GolfCourseHome.net, http://www.LuxuryGolfCommunities.net and other related sites. The Network serves as an information resource for people looking to buy a primary or secondary home, a home/lot for retirement, or an investment home/lot located within master-planned, golf and waterview communities.

NEWTOWN, CT, September 6, 2000 GolfCourseHome.net, the
Webs fastest growing golf course real estate site, registered
its eighth straight month of a 10 percent-or-more increase in
visitor traffic in August, while hit totals surpassed a critical
milestone. The golf community site broke through the 100,000 hit
barrier for the first time, registering more than 110,000 hits,
and continued garnering topline positions on search engine
results.

AskJeeves.com, Direct Hit (Top 10 Most Popular Sites), and
ATTWorldNet.
Other top rankings included No. 3 on HotBot and InfoSeek (out
of 3.1 million sites). No 4 on Yahoo (Web page matches), Google
and TopClick. And No. 7 on AltaVista, msn.com and AOL.com.
"Our strong, steady growth is a wonderful indication
that our marketing strategy, in which we take the long view
instead of going for flash and expensively acquired name
recognition, is working," noted David Lott, Editor and
Publisher. "Were dedicated to building our business one
visitor at a time."
"GolfCourseHome.net occupies a super-vertical
niche," he continued, "working as a real estate site
that focuses only on successful professionals who want to live
on a golf course. We feature high-quality, master-planned
communities, and they attract quality, upscale buyers. For
example, a recent visitor wanted information on home sites
costing between $500,000 and $750,000."
GolfCourseHome.net is the fastest growing provider of golf
community information on the Web. It features a database of more
than 500 master-planned communities, plus editorial features on
